bit o'news about the past Toons, and a wee bit about what's coming up.
Hey hey hey! It seems only fitting the 200th Dober’Toon happens to be the first cartoon of 2004. If you’re a first time Tooner welcome, and if you’ve been with us since we first popped onto the Internet 4 years ago, thanks for all the support.
If you’re a newbie Tooner, be sure and visit our contents page and see what we are all about, our dedication to rescue and the K-9s, and of course good will toward Doberman kind.
Sure we’ve tied a few knickers in knots,and ruffled a few feathers, (or fur hairs) but we’ve also given folks worldwide the Doberman giggles. I’ve met some wonderful people both in person and via email…. I’ve received emails from far away places like Indonesia, Germany, (They even sent me a 100th yr anniversary of the Doberman watch), Russia, Japan, China, the Philippines, Yugoslavia, Norway, Australia, Mexico, Canada, UK, Italy where we’ve been featured online and in a hardcover book, Other’s I don’t remember at the moment, and of course all over the USA. We are linked from so many sites I can’t begin to list them which delights my ole’ ticker. Most are fabulous places, from Marine and War dog sites including the Guam Doberman Monument web site, then on to other wonderful Doberman sites, and variety sites. We boast more than 71 fabulous awards of which I’m very proud! We are still 2nd listing in “Top Doberman Sites” with Louise’s site being #1. But she’s a great gal and I hope she stays in #1. My toons are seen in Rescue newsletters from around the country, YAY! That’s what they are for….our contributed books and t-shirts have raised many love bucks for worthy causes in raffles and auctions, We are soon to be in the “Pipeline” again, there are new features coming up, including “Markus the Magnificent” the Doberman from the Marine perspective, who will have his place with the Marine stuff on the dedication page. To all the Doberman Forums where I yak or quietly lurk and enjoy…Thank you!
But all is not fun and games, there are times when sadness prevails…Brutal abuse cases like Jake the bait dog, an email telling me his terrible grief from a cartoonist who’s online work I adore, after he found his son was murdered, the anguish of cyber friends who’ve lost their Dobermans and loved ones. I’ve been hoodwinked a few times too, the most embarrassing one when I was asked for and upon examination, gave the award for “Beautiful Doberman Websites”, to a person who also breeds white Dobermans under another name. Of course I knew nothing about her when she asked for it, but I sure found out in a hurry. While I’m flattered my award is so precious to her (she refuses to remove it) it’s still flaunted there much to my regret. But just as I ignore flatulence in polite company, I ignore people who mock my cartoons…..
The world will keep turning, time will keep passing, and hopefully we will have health and peace in this coming year, and maybe even find Mars once was inhabited! God bless you all, and keep ‘tooned, there are at least 52 Dober’Toons a’comin your way if the Crick don’t rise and the crop comes in, and ole’ Auntie keeps perkin’.
